How overtime is calculated
Federal Fair Labor Standards Act requires 1.5× the regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Some states require daily overtime (over 8 in one day) or double-time (over 12). This calculator uses the federal weekly rule — adjust the threshold for your state.
Overnight shifts
If End is earlier than Start (you clocked out the next morning), the calculator wraps to the next day. So 22:00 → 06:00 with 30 min lunch = 7.5 hours.
