How dates are counted
The "total days" is a strict count of 24-hour periods between the two dates. Business days exclude Saturday and Sunday but do not subtract holidays (which vary by country/region).
The years/months/days breakdown walks the calendar — meaning February → February is "1 year, 0 months, 0 days" even though Feb has 28 (or 29) days, not the 365.25-day annual average.
FAQ
Does this include the start/end day?
The "total days" count is the number of full 24-hour periods between midnight of the start date and midnight of the end date. So Jan 1 → Jan 2 is 1 day, not 2.
Why doesn't business-days subtract holidays?
Holidays are jurisdiction-specific (US federal, UK bank, state-specific, religious). A calculator that picks the wrong set of holidays is more misleading than one that doesn't subtract them at all. Subtract your own holiday count manually if needed.
