Tip on pre-tax vs post-tax
Etiquette is split. The convention this calculator uses: tip is calculated on the pre-tax subtotal. That's slightly more generous to the diner. If your local convention is post-tax, add a couple of percent to compensate.
Uneven shares
Enter "1, 1, 2" for three people where the third had a larger meal. The total bill (including tax and tip) is divided in those proportions: first two pay 1/4 each, third pays 2/4 = half.
