What "factor" means
Every positive integer greater than 1 can be written uniquely as a product of prime numbers. That decomposition is its prime factorization. Example: 360 = 2³ × 3² × 5.
GCD and LCM
The greatest common divisor of two integers is the largest integer that divides both. The least common multiple is the smallest integer that both divide into. Useful for reducing fractions and finding common denominators.
Relation: gcd(a, b) × lcm(a, b) = a × b.
