Ideal Weight Calculator

Four common formulas, side-by-side. They mostly agree within a few pounds. "Ideal" is statistical, not personal — read the notes below before taking any one number too seriously.

Hamwi (1964)

Healthy BMI range (18.5–25)

These formulas have limits

All four were developed for clinical medication dosing, not weight-loss goals. They're based on population statistics from decades ago, weight only a single number, and don't account for muscle mass, frame size, or body fat percentage.

The BMI range at the bottom is a more honest answer: a healthy weight is a band, not a single number. If you fall inside it, you're fine. If you fall outside, the question is why (muscle vs fat, where the fat sits), not "by how much."
