The math
required = (target − current × (1 − weight)) / weight
If your final exam is worth 30% of the grade, your existing work makes up the other 70%. So your "locked in" portion is current × 0.7, and the final has to make up the rest of the gap to your target.
What "impossible" means
If the required score exceeds 100%, no amount of studying will hit your target — it's mathematically out of reach with this final's weight. Common when target gap is larger than the final's contribution can cover.
